STONES SOUND STUDIO

VIDEO  CABLE  TYPES

by Russell Storey

VIDEO  Is a  single cable that carries the video (composite ) signal containing the  luminance (brightness) and chromance (Color) picture information is the  standard video connection between the DVD player and the receiver OR receiver and the TV/Projector Screen this is the

basic universal connection picture quality is ok but not as good as S-VHS or Component Video which I recommend highly.

S-VHS  Is a 4pin cable that carries the video signal  that has been split into two signals  luminance (brightness) and chromance (Color) picture information is a step up from a standard video connection between the DVD player and the receiver OR receiver and the TV/Projector Screen

SCART,which carry signals from an AV source to your TV, vary from basic leads supplied free with a TV,VCR or DVD, to better after market(branded)versions that improve the sound and picture quality . Most  European DVD players have RGB scart connections

for easier 1 cable multi connection of  the A/V  signals from the DVD player  to TV  set or  HomeTheatre receiver

COMPONENT VIDEO Uses  3  separate  RCA  cables (red ,green, blue) the picture signal has been has been split into three signals   (RGB) or (Yb PbRb) depending on your brand of DVD player or TV set  .The component video connection is my recommended step up if you want the best picture quality and is superior in all aspects to a standard  video RCA  or S-VHS  video connection between the DVD player and the HomeTheatre Receiver AND/OR  HomeTheatre Receiver to the TV/Projector Screen
